This course helps prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants and meets OSHA/workplace requirements. As a blended learning course, the course has online modules and an instructor-led classroom skill session. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class portion. Allow approximately 2 hours 30 minutes to complete the online portion. Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a digital certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years.
Certification Requirements – Participants must:
Successfully complete the online sessions.
Attend and participate in all class sessions.
Actively participate in all course activities, including assuming various roles during skill practices and assessment scenarios.
Demonstrate competency in all required skills.
Successfully complete all assessment scenarios.

Course Participation: All UNCW Campus Recreation Aquatics Red Cross courses are open to UNCW faculty, staff, their families, and the community. Course registration does not permit non-members access to any Campus Recreation facilities outside of the course location. Please note that department policy requires all participants to be a minimum of 16 years of age to participate in this course. Guardians will be responsible for participants during lunch and breaks.
Refund Policy: UNCW Campus Recreation Aquatics requests notice of cancellation in writing two weeks prior to session start date. Refunds are not granted with less than two weeks’ notice. Non-attendance does not entitle you to a refund. This includes, but is not limited to, illness, vacation, or inclement weather. Your registration holds your spot in the class. Refunds are not issued if prerequisite testing is not successful during the first session of class and the student will not be permitted to continue with the course. Refunds will not be given to anyone that fails a course requirement and will not be issued a certificate. Please note that if we have to cancel a class for weather, facility issues, or low enrollment, we will do our best to contact you as soon as possible using the contact information you provided during registration to either reschedule or offer a refund. The minimum enrollment for each course is 5 individuals.
